His first civilian job was at Esterline Electronics located in Speedway, Indiana. He also held a job position at Thompson Consumer Electronics in the northside of Indianapolis. He was a great provider to his family and a hardworking employee without complaint.
He met Rebecca (Becky) G. Burns in 1973 and they married on September 22, 1974. They were together in a joyful companionship until his death. They enjoyed spending time with grandchildren together, adored time with family at events, and completing puzzle after puzzle during times of relaxation. As an individual, he focused on family genealogy and staying organized. He kept his personal belongings tidy and in great condition. He was a member of Church of God - International.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Becky. He was a loving father to his three daughters Jenny Mattes (Jeff), Emily Hawkins (Nathan), and Paula Morris (Don).
