Jim Brewer, 72, of Richland Center, passed away on April 28th at the family farm on Buck Creek. Jim was born January 22, 1953, to Loron Brewer and Catherine (Bergman) Brewer. Jim was raised on the family farm and attended elementary school in Buck Creek and then Richland Center High School.
He was active in Football, Cross Country, Wrestling and High School Rodeo. Jim greatly excelled in rodeo and devoted 30 years to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The first 10 were competing in bares, broncs and bulls. The last 20 were his passion – saddle broncs. Jim qualified for the Great Lakes Circuit Finals all 30 years of his competition.
Jim met his wife, Michele (Meurer) at a rodeo in Kentucky. They married in 1993. From their union was born their only child, Brandon James. Being a dad changed Jim's focus in life. Wherever Brandon was, there Jim would be. He loved watching the kids compete and treated all the boys as if they were his own. Jim became very interested in baseball when Brandon started playing. Together they spent hundreds of hours practicing on the fields of North Park.
Jim spent his entire life in construction, co-owning Barnett and Brewer Construction, building all over Wisconsin. Upon retirement from building Jim worked at the local All American Do It Center, where a whole new group of special friends was created.
Jim will long be remembered for his strength, toughness, work ethic, ability to tell a story and his straightforward approach. He was extremely loyal. His pride was his family and he loved nothing more than to have everyone under one roof, sharing stories. He was a private man, and was very content on the farm, raising cattle and tending the barn cats.
Jim is survived by his wife, Michele; son Brandon and fiancé' Maddison; sisters: Vicky (Jim) Barry, Debra (Thomas) Lorch, Suzie (Todd) Houg; brother Kevin (Dawn Thompson) Brewer; mother-in-law Mary Meurer; sisters-in-laws: Melanie Clintsman and Natalie (Rob) Gunther; nieces and nephews: Troy Barry, Carrie Barry, Shannon Houg, Daniel Houg, Tyler (Katylia) Clintsman, Logan Gunther; great niece, Carter; special cousin Robin Brewer (Salah Ali); friend Myron Clinstman; as well as many family relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant sister, Linda; parents Loron Brewer and Catherine Waletzki; stepdad Phil Waletzki; father-in-law, Bob Meurer and lifelong friend and business partner Bill Barnett.
Michele and Brandon would like to thank the staff of the Richland Hospital, especially the Kraemer Center nurses, who brought their special gift of making everyone feel as if they are family. The care received locally was such a blessing. Thank you to Dr. Crystal Lumi. You are incredible! You truly are a gift to all you care for. Thank you to Dr. Trevor Dennie – thank you does not seem like enough. A special thank you to Paul Corcoran and the amazing staff of the Richland Family Prescription Center for all their kindness. Thank you to all the family, neighbors and friends for your help and prayers.
A celebration of Jim's life will take place on May 10, 2025, at the American Legion Post 13, 900 Flag Park Drive in Richland Center from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm. The family requests memorials in Jim's name be directed to GRACE. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
