Reverend Jim Henry Sullivan, Jr., age 78, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born in Statesboro on November 5, 1946 to the late Jim Henry Sullivan, Sr. and Gladys Mae Brannen Sullivan. Reverend Sullivan served proudly in both the Georgia Air National Guard for nine years and the Georgia Army National Guard for three years. He was ordained into the ministry in 1988 and was the former pastor at Pembroke Christian Church. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Gail Wiggins Sullivan.
Survivors include his wife of six years, Delores Strickland Sullivan; two children, Jim Henry Sullivan, III. and his wife Tracie of Pembroke and Lori Sullivan Knight and her husband Brad of Ellabell; three stepchildren, Annie Jarriel and her husband Gary of Guyton, Tami Thurston and her husband Shannon of Pembroke and Traci Wells and her husband Scott of Guyton; brother, George Robert Sullivan, Sr. and his wife Sandra of Ellabell; three sisters, Maggie Sullivan Clark and her husband Tom of Seatle, WA, Becky Sullivan Lewis and her husband Dale of Pembroke and Ramona Sullivan Schumpert of Ellabell; four grandchildren, Clayton Sullivan and his wife Caitlin, Ansley Sullivan (Tristan Neurath), Evan Knight, and Easton Knight and three step grandchildren, Emily Jarriel, Dowson Hurt and Kinsley Hurt; one great grandson on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Doctor Brad Butler officiating.
Burial will be held at First Baptist Church of Ellabell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, GA 30458
