Jo Nell Lewis, 63, arrived at the gates of Heaven on February 16, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1961 in Terre Haute to David E. Lewis and Cora Nell (Anthony) Lewis. Her parents and one niece Ramsey Lewis preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Holly (Lewis) Wheaton, brothers David A. Lewis and his wife Darlyne, and Dr. J. Bret Lewis and his wife Ellen, as well as her dear friend Arlena Roshel. She also leaves behind her niece Leslie Wheaton-Gill (Michael Gill), nephews John D. Wheaton (Julie), Boyd Lewis, Blake Lewis, Christopher Lewis (Annalie), and Corey Lewis; great nieces and nephews Brandt Wheaton, Luke Wheaton, Connor Wheaton, Mia Wheaton, Andy Lewis, Henry Lewis, and Benjamin Lewis, and her beloved dogs Dagny, Bryzzo, Clarabelle, and Stella.
Jo Nell received her LPN degree from Ivy Tech University and worked for several years in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She completed her career working at Roshel Family Dentistry serving as a dental assistant, office manager, and front desk assistant until her retirement.
Jo Nell loved animals of all kinds and spent her whole life loving and caring for her beloved dogs and cats, as well as a skunk, a squirrel, and a ground hog at one point. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being the life of the party with her comments, stories and the occasional prank. She has left a legacy of love, laughter and kindness. A large void will be left in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2024 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of Jo Nell to the Terre Haute Humane Society or Dog It Dig It Rescue.

My wife Tammy and I have known Jo for many years, she has always been kind and pleasant to us. Jo always had a smile and a story to share. We are fortunate to have her as our friend. It saddens us to see her go at such a young age. God bless you Jo and all those who know and love her. David and Tammy Goda
