Jo Ann Shaffer, 83, of Johnston township, OH, passed away peacefully at her home on December 27th, 2024, following a long battle with cancer. Jo Ann was born on October 27th, 1941, in Warren, OH, daughter of Elmer and Daisy (Kennedy) Wood. She was a 1959 graduate of Howland High School. She married John "Jack" Shaffer August of 1989 and enjoyed several years of marriage together. Jo retired from Packard Electric and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Jo Ann was lovingly known as "Mimi", a beautiful soul that would help anyone and was the life of any party. Her memory will live on in her children, Craig (Kimmy) Wheeler of Cortland, Jeff (Audrey) Ziegler of Tampa, and Barry Ziegler of Johnston; her son-in-law, Buck Propst of Kinsman; her step children, John Shaffer of North Carolina, and Diane (Jayant) Shaffer Saint-Louis of Orlando; her six grandchildren, Jordan, Allyssa, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Mason, and Maxwell; and her three great grandchildren, Avery, Harper, and Beau. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Beth Propst, and her husband Jack. Jo Ann impacted many people throughout her life with love and laughter, she will be deeply missed by all who loved her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Warren Hospital and The Hope Center in Howland for all the care given. Flowers may be sent to the cemetery chapel or memorial contributions may be made to The Hope Center, 700 Howland Wilson Rd. SE, Warren, OH 44484. To honor Jo, a service for family and friends will be held at Johnston Cemetery in the chapel on January 2nd, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A celebration of life gathering will be held after, details provided at the service. Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, Kinsman, OH, handled arrangements.
