Jo Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Affordable Burial & Cremation Service - Austin Area on Dec. 31, 2025.
Jo Ed Smith was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 22, 1953, to Billy (Mull) and William Edward Smith. He graduated from Idalou High School and went on to attend Texas Tech University for a short period of time. Not one to be tied down, he rode the wind, worked several jobs and eventually settled down, married and had two beautiful daughters. He moved to Kerr County in the hill country in 1989 where he worked for Central Texas Electric Cooperative, a job he truly loved. He met a girl in 2001, Debbie, which was love at first sight. They were inseparable from that time forward and were married on November 13, 2017, and lived in Austin, Texas where he went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughters, Cherie and Tamara, stepson and grandson, Josh and Joshua, sisters, Rhonda and Suzette and brother Eddy.

JoEd was a kind and loving man, giving of himself, helping neighbors and friends. He always had a joke or sarcastic remark that endeared him to everyone that knew him. He will be terribly missed.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
