Joan Roberta Aloia

Joan Roberta Aloia, of Franklin Lakes, formerly of Parsippany and Fairfield, died November 17, 2025. She was 84.

Born in Newark, Joan was the daughter of Norman and Ann Millman. While attending West Orange High School, she began dating Donald Aloia. She would go on to marry her high school sweetheart in 1963, and together they settled in Fairfield.

Raising four daughters, Joan provided a strong foundation for her family while her husband ran their Exxon station in Fairfield. She was an excellent cook, loved to clean, and readily volunteered to always be her daughters' class mom. Friends would always love when Mrs. Aloia would come on field trips with the class, because that meant her delicious home-baked cookies would be coming too.

As her daughters grew, she returned to work, assisting Donald with the bookkeeping at their Exxon station. She later worked for a surgeon in Parsippany, as well, and served as the office manager there.

Joan enjoyed a simple life, and needed nothing more than to be surrounded by her dear family and a few close friends. Playing cards, camping and spending time with those she loved were what made her most happy.

Joan is lovingly survived by her husband, Donald E. Aloia; her children, Suzanne Manwarren and her husband Robert, Linda Lorenz and her husband James, Carol Trocolar and her husband Mark, and Sandra Rizzo and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Marissa and her husband Nick, Robert, Jimmy, Christopher, Matthew, Ryan, Emily, Joey, and Anthony; her great-grandson, Mason, and her great-granddaughter, Sophia.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Friday, November 21 at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated by her family.
