Joan Mildred Dery of Queenstown, MD, passed peacefully at the age of 91, on July 1, 2024, from natural causes.
Joan was born on Dec 4, 1932, daughter of Gustave and Melina Zele Maigret in Torrington, CT. She attended Torrington High School, graduating in 1950.
Joan married Donald Dery of Pine Meadow, CT in Torrington, CT, June 14, 1951.
Joan is survived by three children: Mark Dery, married to Alice Waller Dery, Fredericksburg VA, Daniel Dery, married to Patricia Young Dery, Greensboro,NC, and Susan Dery, Annapolis, MD. In addition, Joan was the proud Grandmother of six: Colette Dery, Clarissa Dery, Allison Dery, Leanne Cosaboon, Jeffrey Dery, and Danielle Dery, and the Great Grandmother of six. She is predeceased by her husband Donald and five siblings: Bernard Maigret, Roger Maigret, Leon Maigret, Dolores Maigret Dery and Eleanor Maigret Dery.
Joan had a wonderful life surrounded by a loving husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and a very large extended and close family. She enjoyed many hobbies over the years including, sewing, cross-stitch, and reading. And one of her later in life hobbies was skiing which she enjoyed with her husband, sisters and and other family members. But it was her family that brought her the most joy and happiness. Joan will be missed dearly.
No memorial service or funeral is planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation in her memory be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at the following link: www.hospicechesapeake.org
