Joan Lizzio, age 87, of Williamsport Home, Williamsport PA passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025 after a long-fought battle of medical issues spanning decades. Her spirit and passion for life have been inspirational and kept her striving to cope with every hurdle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lizzio, in 2018.
Born January 18, 1938, in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Honor (Quinn) Magorien. She was extremely proud of earning a bachelor's degree from Pace University while raising three children. She worked in the capacity of an administrative assistant at multiple businesses including IBM but found working with students studying abroad at Marymount College most rewarding.
Formerly of Pleasantville, NY, she enjoyed almost 30 years in the Woodloch Springs community, in Hawley, PA. While living at Woodloch Springs, she and her husband were members of BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Joan took pleasure in many activities such as golf, yoga, aquasize, mah jong and was extremely involved in volunteering her time with many meaningful groups. Joan relocated to Williamsport to be closer to her daughter and her family.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen Warden and her husband Robert of Muncy, PA and Therese Lizzio and her husband Mike Cammack of Ridgeway, CO; one son: Paul Lizzio of Schwenksville, PA; one sister Eileen Drumm and her husband Robert of Lady Lake, FL; four grandchildren: Lindsay (Jace) Conklin, Robert Warden, III, Paul Cammack; and Samantha Lizzio; and one great granddaughter, Honor Conklin, who was her pride and joy.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amanda Lizzio, and one sister, Elizabeth.
Calling hours will be Monday, November 10, from 1 to 4 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 11, at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care in Williamsport, PA. 1100 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701 in her name. A private cremation will be held following the funeral mass. Inurnment will be held at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, at a later date.
