Joan's journey in education began at Grinnell College in Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to obtain a Master's Degree in Education from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. She began her career in teaching and taught in the Morton Grove, Illinois school district.
Joan met and married her beloved husband, William Henry Schrimpf. The couple moved to Lake Forest, Illinois and built their dream home in 1976 and were blessed to have shared 58 wonderful years together creating a nurturing environment for their children Robert Joseph and John David Schrimpf.
As long-time resident of Lake Forest, Joan was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Joan's interests and contributions extended beyond her spiritual life. She was a former member of the Tennaqua Swim & Racket Clubs in Deerfield, Illinois, she volunteered for the Infant Welfare Society and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, William; her sons, Robert Joseph (Kerri) Schrimpf and John David Schrimpf; grandchildren, Natalie Jayne Schrimpf and Connor Joseph Schrimpf; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Joseph David and Eleanor Kaid David; and siblings, the late Barbara Ann Lopez, J.
