Joe Craig, 86, of Ocala, FL went to his heavenly home on June 24, 2021. He was born on July 16, 1934 in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama to Roy and Mamie Craig. He was proceeded in death by his wife Aileen Craig.

He was retired from Orange County Public Schools, having been a teacher / coach for over 30 years. He was a member of Concord Street Church of Christ for over 55 years. For 14 summers, he also attended the Central Haywood Church of Christ in Waynesville, NC. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Ocala the past 6 years.

Joe courageously battled through the past year with dignity, grace, and a positive attitude. He was always smiling and very thankful for every act of kindness. We are especially thankful for his caregivers April, Mark, and Janice who tirelessly gave of themselves to make his days brighter.

He is survived by sons, Chuck (Carol) and Mike (Julie), grandchildren, Caitlin (Nathan) Smith, Chelsea, Ashleigh, Carl, Josh, Luke, and great granddaughter Caroline Aileen Smith. He is also survived by his sisters Janie Whitaker (Willard) and Doris Buford along with many nieces and nephews.

Joe served in the US Army and will have a private service at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Dora Children's Home or your favorite charity.

It was our genuine pleasure to get to know both Joe & Aileen--they were welcome additions to the Central church family. (It was nice sharing a common interest in wood-working!) Joe's kind and gentle ways will serve as a happy memory for many years to come.
