Jerry Joe Kropf, age 82 of La Cygne, Kansas formerly of Butler, Missouri died on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home. He was born April 13, 1942 to John Douglas and Doris Belle Burk Kropf in Butler, Missouri.
Joe was an epitome of dedication, having spent his early years at Tripp School before graduating from Butler High School in 1960. His pursuit of education took him further to the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1964, a master's degree in 1970 and PhD in 1972.
In 1962, Joe's life was brightened when he married Jean Ann Endecott, and together they welcomed three wonderful children into their family. Joe was a lifelong learner, channeling his passion for agriculture into a flourishing career. He worked diligently at Armour in Omaha, Nebraska, offered his expertise at the University of Missouri Extension Office in Kirksville, and later enriched the academic communities at Montana State University in Bozeman, and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Joe eventually became a self-employed Agricultural Economist Consultant from which he retired in 2013.
Above all, Joe's most cherished moments were spent with his precious family. His legacy is as fertile as the fields he loved, yielding a harvest of memories to those he left behind for generations to come.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jeanie Kropf of the home; two sons, John Kropf and wife Gina of Cambria, California and Chris Kropf of La Cygne, Kansas; a daughter, Kasey Hartnett and husband Brian of Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Colton Kropf, Mary Kaitlyn Gammon (Blaise), Maureen Hartnett, Molly Hartnett, Meghan Hartnett, Kelly Moorman (Anthony) and Courtney Kropf; five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Zoey, Emme, Blakely and Brenlee; and a sister, Sherry Hannah and husband Arnold of Butler, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents.
