John Curt Berte

John C. Berte, 65, longtime resident of Beverly, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at the Kaplan House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chelsea on December 19, 1958, to his late parents John F. and Johanna (Bortlik) Berte. John attended Malden High School and graduated with the Class of 1978 and worked for many years at Mike's Pizza in Beverly. John was known for being selfless and helping those who were less fortunate than himself. He had a love for many sports; hockey, basketball, football, fishing, and bowling, and loved tap dancing.
John is survived by his longtime companion Sharon Buckley and his two sons, Benjamin Berte and Christopher Berte, all of Beverly. He is also survived by his three brothers; Brian Berte and his husband Boni Felicita of Raleigh, NC, Bruce Berte of Saugus, and Bruce Bortlik. He is also survived by his close friend Steven Buckley and their family pet Oreo. John will be loved, cherished, and missed by all.
His graveside service will be at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, MA on Tuesday, December 10, at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
