John F. Brown

John Francis Brown, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by family and his amazing live-in aid, Margaret. He was 94, just shy of his 95th birthday.
John was born October 10, 1929, in Newark, NJ. He was the youngest of his siblings and the only son of John Francis Brown and May Lafferty. John was in the 508th Arborne Infantry Regiment, part of the 11th Arborne Division. He made 25 jumps. (He made one final jump as a civilian at the age of 85.) When he returned home, he married the love of life, Joan. Together they raised their son Stanely Suchdolski. In 1974 he bought his dream home in Hackettstown. John was a postal worker in Newark and became a Sheriff's Officer also in Newark for over 25 years. He and Joan traveled the world together. They lived a simple life surrounded by family. Both John and Joan had a deep love for animals and supported various different charities.
John is predeceased by his loving wife, Joan Brown and son Stanley Suchdolski. He is survived by his niece Ellen Mullery of Brick, nephews Thomas Beeh of Belleville, Dennis Beeh of East Brunswick, his great niece Meghan Mullery Suarez, of Brick, great great niece Jessica Armstrong (Phil) of Brick, great great nephew Dylan Suarez of Brick and many other nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2024 at 10:00am with Deacon Pidgeon officiating. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
