John H. Buschman "JB", 89, of Yardley PA, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025 at Sunrise Senior Living of Lower Makefield, with his family at his side. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
Born and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, John had been a resident of Bucks County, PA since 1976. Married to Alice Jane (nee Wahlers) for 65 years, they raised three daughters: Nancy Hollahan (Lee) of Glenmoore, PA; Carol Romano (Tommy) of Yardley, PA; and Janie Ryan (Aaron) of Maplewood, NJ. He was the devoted 'DeeDah' to his seven beloved grandchildren, TJ Romano, Jonathon Hollahan, Christopher Romano, Justin Hollahan, Jeremy Hollahan, Lydia Ryan, Lauren Ryan, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Hollahan. He is also survived by his brother and sister in-law, Gary and Jean Wahlers, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John F. & Williamina Buschman, a sister Ina Buschman, and brother and sister in-law Al & "Mike" Wahlers.
John graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1954 and then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army. He served 2 years at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, in the 25th infantry division, until he was honorably discharged in 1957. He had fond memories of, and endless stories about, his time in the military.
John had a long and distinguished career in the Commercial Real Estate Industry, starting in North Jersey, then in Philadelphia, and finally in Princeton, New Jersey, where his company Buschman Partners established itself as a market leader. He loved his career, and his charm and likability contributed to his success.
John had a kind and generous heart and would not hesitate to help a stranger in need. He was involved in many charitable organizations including The Raptor Trust, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County and Lifeline Emergency Shelter in Trenton, NJ. He was a member of Morrisville Presbyterian Church. He made friends wherever he went, and loved visiting with his neighbors, local merchants and the ladies from the bank. He brought candy to share, and a smile with him everywhere he went.
John spent the last two years of his life in the Reminiscence memory care neighborhood at Sunrise Senior Living of Lower Makefield, where he will be remembered for his friendly nature, his sense of humor, and his 'chick-a-boom' dance! Everyone knew and loved JB! His family would like to express deep gratitude to the caregivers, nurses, med techs, and staff at Sunrise, for their loving care and attention, especially in his final days. Thanks also to Chandler Hall Hospice for their thoughtful and gentle care.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 12:00pm, and share in a memorial service at 1:00pm, both at Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue, Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
