John H. Clem Sr., 90, passed away on Friday August 22,2025 at his home. John was born on August 8, 1935 to the late John Clem and Lettie (Sergeant) of Putney, Ky. He retired a switchman for L&N and CSX Railroad. He was a member of American Legion and the VFW Post. John served our country in the Army during Peace Time. He was a loving husband, father, brother, Papaw and Old Papaw. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Clem, sister Jean Newport and great grandson Benjamin. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 71 years Mary Helen (Helton) Clem, children John Clem Jr. (Paula), Pam Legdesog, Shari Bailey (Tony) and David Clem (Amy); nine grandchildren Daniel (Robyn), Melissa (Kyle), Conan, Melanie (David), Andrew, Chauncey, Chandra, Brad and Jenna, nine great grandchildren Thomas, Walter, Mary, Allison, Sam, Daniel, Roman, Alia and Lyka, one great great grandchild Alezia, brother Jack Clem and a host of family and friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday August 27, 2025, at 1:00pm Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00-1:00pm at the funeral home.
