John Columbus "JC" Wright, Jr., 89, of Swannanoa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 30, 2025.

JC was born on June 13, 1936, in Buncombe County to the late John Columbus Wright, Sr. and Ruby Rathbone Wright. He was an Engineer at NCI for over 35 years. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, his farm animals, and gardening. JC loved singing and led the youth group choir at Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church and was also a Sunday School Teacher. After the passing of his wife, Phyllis, in 2021, he cherished visiting and making friends at the Lake View Center for Active Aging. JC was a quiet man but loved helping others. He also loved and adored his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Ballard Wright; sister, Marie Hall; and brothers, Herschel Wright, Marvin Wright, and David Wright.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Johnny Wright (Lucy), Nancy Miller (Mike), Susan Robinson (Bruce) and Beth Carter (Brian); sister, Betty Hensley; brothers, Robert Wright and Larry Wright; grandchildren, Hannah (Paul), Holly (McLean), Madison (Kody), Drew, Megumi (Nathan), John, Samantha, Samuel, Emilie, Rebekah, Addie, and Jack; and great grandchildren, Everett, Wade, Worth, Grey, Soloman, Max, Amelia, Annalise, and Brynn.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:00am at Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 11:00am with Rev. Johnny Wright and Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. The burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church, 222 Fountain Way, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
