John Barry Craig, 72, of Bellefonte, passed away surrounded by family at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Born on June 22, 1951, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Ira Paul and Edith May (Hines) Craig. On March 8, 1975, he married his beloved wife, Debra Lee (Dolan) Craig, who survives at home after sharing over 49 years of marriage together.
John was a 1970 graduate of the former Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked as a paver for various construction companies throughout his career, ultimately retiring from EBY Paving & Construction.
In addition to his wife, Debra, he is survived by their daughter, Jessica Davy and her husband, Tim, of Julian, and a grandson, Jaymz Davy. Also surviving is a sister, Linda Harpster of Julian.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three siblings.
John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying numerous activities that afforded him the opportunity to spend time outside. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He also took great pride in his physical health, making a point to stay in shape through the years. He welded his own gym equipment to be sure that he could work out from home, and took karate classes at DelReal Martial Arts in State College, resulting in him being a 2nd degree black belt.
Funeral and burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
