MANITOU BEACH – John Michael Dull, age 81, of Manitou Beach, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, April 24, 2025, under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born in Indianapolis on November 19, 1943, to the late James C. and Doris M. (Delph) Dull. John graduated from Adrian High School, and on July 1,1967, he began a 32-year career with Adrian Police Department. He began as a patrolman and worked his way through the ranks, attaining sergeant, detective sergeant, and retiring as a lieutenant on July 1, 1999. For a brief period, he served as acting chief. On August 19, 1989, he married Carol S. Johnston, and she survives.
During his law enforcements career, he was also in charge of security for all Adrian High School home football games, a position he held for over 20 years. In his free time, he loved to spend as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also loved drag racing his 1967 Chevelle, enjoying his classic car collection, wintering in Florida, and boating on Devil's Lake.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 36 years, Carol; daughters, Michelle (Randy) Gray, Kathy (Jim) Gardner, Kimberly Young, and Wendee (Matt) Bohn; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jim and Gene (Eris) Dull. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; and two sisters.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 12:00 - 5:00 PM, at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at 4445 Cedar Point Road, Manitou Beach, Michigan.
