John Hayward Farris, Jr., age 77, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. John was born September 9, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to the late John Farris, Sr. and Bernadine "Betty" Glick. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Farris.
Throughout his life journey, John carved out a living in the automotive industry with his ownership of exhaust shops in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Weatherford, and Keller, Texas. John was known coast to coast over three decades for his passion and talent building custom headers and his work in the automotive exhaust business leaving a mark on all who crossed his path.
Beyond his professional pursuits, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life - be it casting a line while fishing, meticulously restoring classic cars to their former glory, or engaging in lively family game nights. These moments of serenity and connection with loved ones brought him immeasurable happiness.
John leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through his children, Steve Turner and his wife, Sandra, Melissa Hill, and Scott Farris; six grandchildren, Steven Turner, Sammy Turner and his wife, Rebecca “Becca”, Sean Turner and his wife, Chaimae, Sarah Lang, John Hill, and Jakob Farris; great-grandson, Wyatt Lang; sister, Lavetta Griffith and her husband, Ritter; nephews, Alan and Mike Couey; many great nephews, cousins, friends, and family.
