JOHN DAVID HARMON, 62, of Evans, WV was taken into the arms of our Lord on August 30, 2024 after bravely facing a long battle with Leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper "Jack" Harmon and Judith Walls Harmon. To mourn his passing, he leaves behind his wife, Juli Smith Harmon and his beloved dog, Gretchen (his "Luck Dragon"), his children, David Alan Harmon (Krizelle), Heather Harmon and Megan Dempsy Harmon; his bonus kids, Garrett Bailey (Brittany) and Katelyn Bailey Smith (Ben), brothers, Sidney Harmon (Jackie Hall) and Harry Harmon (Chari), sisters, Kathlene Harmon (Rick Brice), Kristine Harmon-McCreery (John), and his grandchildren whom he adored.
After leaving the Army, John became a carpenter and was amember of Carpenter's Union Local 302, working last from Hall 439. He was always willing to lend a hand to build whatever was needed. He also loved fishing and hunting and spent many hours at the Inside Spread Hunt Club with his brothers and friends. It was one of his favorite places on earth. He was an excellent marksman and loved guns.
He was a kind and loyal friend to his family and many othersand will be terribly missed by all. His IDGAF attitude was epic, but his heart was as pure as his sense of humor was wicked. Our stories of him growing up are quite entertaining. He blamed everything on Harry.
A special thank you to Dr. Lauren Veltri, the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and Ruby Memorial Hospital for the hours of excellent care they provided to John. He deeply respected the doctors, nurses and staff. Also thank you to the Rosenbaum Family House which provided lodging to John and Juli during his many months of treatment.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Waybright Funeral Home, 513 Church Street, South, Ripley, WV 25271. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with the service immediately following with Rick Brice officiating.
Donations may be made in John's memory to the Rosenbaum Family House, 30 Family House Drive, P.O. Box 8228, Morgantown, WV 26506 (www.rosenbaumfamilyhouse.com
