John Robert Heidlebaugh, age 79, of rural Marion, IL, passed away at 4:42 pm on Saturday, December 24, 2022, in Heartland Regional Medical Center of Marion, IL.
He was born on January 25, 1943, in Hindsboro, IL, the son John Richard and Roberta Jean (Draper) Heidlebaugh.
John attended school in Hindsboro and was a graduate of Hindsboro High School.
He was united in marriage to Rosie Darlene Colbroth on June 6, 1980, in the Baptist Church of Energy, IL, and together they have shared over 42 years of marriage.
Early in his life he worked and help build the "Total Christian Television Network" (TCT). He also worked for Southern Illinois Security Consultants that became St. Mortiz Security Company located in Murphysboro, IL.
He was a member of Fellowship in Christ Christian Church of Carterville, IL. He also was the Founder, President and Preacher of the "Riders for Jesus" Christian Organization and a member of ABATE Motorcycle Group and the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Over the years he was involved with many Christian Motorcycle Groups and organizations.
John loved to ride motorcycles, having ridden all over the country many times to special rallies and meetings he supported. He also was known as a gun enthusiast; building, working on and repairing and collecting all types of guns.
He loved his family and many friends and always enjoyed the many times shared together. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Darlene Heidlebaugh of Marion; son, Joe Heidlebaugh of Marion, IL; son, John Curtis Heidlebaugh and Jane of Marion, IL and son, Darrell Sullivan of Marion, IL, grand-daughter, Nevaeh Heidlebaugh of Marion, IL; son, John Douglas Heidlebaugh of Johnston City, IL; daughter, Kim Tripp and husband, Steve of Pittsburg, IL; son, Jeff Heidlebaugh of Mattoon, IL, sister, Barbara Boles and husband, Paul of Crab Orchard, IL; brother-in-law, LeRoy Jack of Spillertown, IL; four sisters-in-law, Sue Parker of Marion, Shirley Dillon of Creal Springs, IL, Catherine Lingle and husband, Jerry of Marion, IL and Vickey Rector of Creal Springs, IL, several nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dexter Colbroth; sister, Debbie Jack; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Penninger and Judy Choate.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.
The visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Fellowship in Christ Christian Church, located at 1204 Pin Oak Drive, Carterville, IL.
Following the time of visitation, the funeral service will be at 1:00 pm with Elder Jim Shasteen and Elder Dan Shasteen presiding.
Interment will follow in County Line Cemetery of south of Creal Springs, IL.
The family has requested for those who would prefer, memorial contributions may be made to "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital." Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the church or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion, IL, 62959.
