John L. Horst

John L. Horst, also known by many as "Skidzz", passed away at the age of 82 on January 30, 2025. John was born on March 13, 1942 in Leola, Pennsylvania to the late Paul Horst and Sylvia Hughes.
John dedicated his life to his passion for motorcycles and classic cars, firmly establishing himself within the motorcycle industry. John's long career included a tenure at Perfection Cycle and Great Lakes Harley, culminating in a 9-year partnership as co-owner and Vice President of J & R Cycles. His expertise and enthusiasm not only earned him respect among his peers but also fostered a lasting legacy in the motorcycle community.
John was the beloved husband of Connie Horst for 35 years; loving father of Shelby Horst, Jamie Ratcliffe (Tim), and Paul Horst; caring grandfather to 12; great grandfather to many; cherished brother of Joan Horst, and Lisa Hughes-Crockette; and a brother-in-law to Thomas Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister JoAnn Adams.
John will be remembered most living his life quietly, always preferring to mind his own business while spreading kindness and love to those around him. In addition, John was a devoted pet parent to his cat, Mercedes, who brought him great joy and companionship.
