John M Kempf, age 70, passed away on May 6, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio to Francis and Rita (Greene) Kempf. He attended and graduated from Bishop Ready High School. John worked as a Manager for G & J Pepsi for 34 years. On March 13, 1976, John married Debbie Detamore, enjoying 49 years of loving companionship. In his spare time John enjoyed watching the Columbus Blue Jackets, fishing and going on numerous beach vacations with his wife Debbie.
John was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Rita Kempf, as well as his sister, Mary Jo Gallenstein, and brother, Christopher Kempf.
John is survived by his wife, Debbie Kempf; his sisters, Patty Gillen, Donna (Jack) Grundey, Francine Kempf; his brothers, Paul (Fran) Kempf and Thomas (Kim) Kempf and brother-in-law Bill Gallenstein; his sons, Jeremy (Sherry) Detamore, Jonathan Kempf, Joshua Kempf, his daughter, Sarah Kempf; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Brenden, Alyssia, Cody, Bryson, and Kellan; and great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Brooklyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.
A gathering of family and friends to Celebrate John's life will be held at Pfeifer Woodyard Funeral Home in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of John Kempf.
