Forty years ago Pat needed some carpet and a friend introduced her to Jack, owner of Carpets by J. C. Law, lll. Little did she know then, that he would become her husband of 36 years and the love of her life!
A graduate of Norfolk Academy and Old Dominion University, Jack formed friendships there that would last his lifetime. In 1965 he was President of Delta a colony of PIKA fraternity at ODU. Supportive, authentic, and generous he stood by his friends and family always.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Jack continued in the flooring business and expanded it. Through his determination, focus, and hard work he caused the business to flourish. Being an outgoing people person and offering a good product with fair prices, he won many clients.
Jack applied that same determination to tennis----often times crashing into a fence or into the net to get the ball! His "Beach Bums" tennis team at Owl Creek enjoyed many Monday night rounds usually with Jack providing the entertainment.
At the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club Jack won the men's single tennis championship, men's member/member as well as the men's member/guest tennis tournament. Golf was another sport he loved, winning the Club's member/member golf tournament in 1985.
He also enjoyed hiking, biking, and their home on Maui, always inviting friends to come stay. Jack was fun, energetic, and the social chairman of the group! He will be so missed by his friends and family and most especially by his wife, Pat.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held September 25 in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
