For many years, John dedicated himself to his career as a mechanic, specializing in heavy equipment. His hands expertly navigated the engines that powered essential machinery, showcasing his unwavering commitment and skill. He also embraced the open road while driving trucks, finding joy in the journeys he undertook.

John had a profound love for the natural world. Whether casting a line while fishing on a tranquil lake or riding horses under the vast skies, he found solace and enjoyment in the great outdoors. He was an enthusiastic deer hunter, relishing the thrill of the chase and the peace of quiet moments in the woods. A true workaholic, John's tenacity and dedication were evident not only in his profession but also in every aspect of his life.

Among those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Lisa Longest, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his devoted mother, Wanda Bryant Longest; and his brothers, Bruce Longest and Harvey Longest. Together, they will hold tight to the shared moments and the lessons he imparted, his spirit forever residing in their hearts.

John is preceded in death by his father, Tom Longest, whose legacy now continues through the love and strength passed down to his family.

A visitation to honor John's life will be held on March 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, Mississippi, allowing friends and family to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life dedicated to his passions and those he loved.
