It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John Alan Mahan on January 4, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana. Born on July 21, 1964, in El Paso, Texas, John spent most of his life in the New Orleans/Covington area, where he became a familiar face and a beloved member of the community.

John was a dedicated Registered Nurse, having graduated from charity school of nursing in 1999. For 25 years, he worked in a field that he was passionate about, helping others with compassion and care. His dedication to his patients and commitment to his profession left a lasting impact on many lives.

John was known for his love of Mardi Gras and was an avid fan of the Saints, showcasing his vibrant spirit and connection to his cultural roots. He cherished the time spent with friends and family, creating memories that will be long remembered.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Guadalupe Halguin; his sisters, Maria LaFosse (James) and Mary Ann Mahan; his brother, Billy G. Mahan; and a long-time friend, Rick Breaux as well as Carolyn Breaux Senac's entire family. John was preceded in death by his father, Billy George Mahan.

A visitation will be held on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 PM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, located at 20370 Smith Rd, Covington, LA. Burial to follow in the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

John Alan Mahan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.
