John David McCombs

A memorial service for John David McCombs, 71, of Hills, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
David McCombs was born on November 15, 1952 to Edwin and Ruby Helen (Creswell) McCombs in Rotan, Texas. He was baptize in the Baptist faith. He was a graduate from Rotan High school. David married the love of his life Mary Ann Weiser on September 5, 1993.
David spent many years in the oil field working as a roustabout. He was an excellent carpenter and built many nice cabinets and such. He spent a number of years working as a rancher and farmer and loved working with cattle, raising hay, and tending to his tractor. David was a very jovial person who enjoyed spending time with his many friends, chatting and joking around with them. He enjoyed helping people and did everything he could for others. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, playing the guitar, and doing puzzles.
David passed away the morning of Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home in Hills with his wife by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruby McCombs; and two brothers, Roy McCombs and Wayne McCombs.
David is survived by his wife Mary Ann McCombs of Hills; sister, Sandy Cofer of Athens; two brothers, Terry McCombs and wife, Regina of Kerrville, and Leon McCombs and wife, Becky of Portland; brother-in-laws, Larry Weiser and wife Elaine of Giddings, Bob Weiser and wife Betty of Yerrington, Navada; and sister-in-law, Betty Weiser of Oklaunion, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Memorials may be made to KHCB radio network or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings.
