John Benson Parker

John Benson Parker, age 65, of Maryville, TN, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, on December 28, 2025. He passed peacefully at UT Medical Center.

John was born in Sanford, Florida. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1978. He then received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/ Marketing from the University of Central Florida. John and Janet were married in 1984 and moved to Maryville in 1985 to begin their career in Optometry.

John was manager and optician of Parker Vision with his wife Dr. Janet T. Parker, O.D. He enjoyed many outside activities; hiking, hunting but especially fishing. John was a longtime member of East Maryville Baptist Church where he worshipped and served faithfully in several ministries. His passion was working with students. He had a servant's heart as a leader and mentor to young men. John loved the Lord and his love for Jesus touched the lives of many through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H.R. and Jane Parker; and his brother Dayle Parker.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Janet T. Parker; sister Sylvia Isherwood, of Alderson, WVA; nephew Avram Chaney; brother-in-law John 0. Thomas; nieces Rachel Redmon and Ellyn Thomas; and his loving East Maryville Baptist Church family.

Family and friends will assemble at East Maryville Baptist Church in the Multipurpose building on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 2:00 pm for visitation and service.

A brief graveside service will immediately follow in East Maryville Baptist Church's Cemetery with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, consider donations be made to: the Student Ministry at East Maryville Baptist Church, 1150 E. Brown School Road, Maryville, TN 37804; or,
