John "Phil" Phillip Hobson, age 48 of Lebanon, Tennessee and formerly of Waynetown, Indiana passed away on September 18, 2025. He was born in Crawfordsville on September 25, 1976 to John Edward Hobson and Betty Jane (Conner) Norris.

He is survived by his mother, Betty "Janie" (Terry) Norris of Waynetown; four children, Ian Carter, Gracelyn Hobson, Cole Welshimer, and Brayden Welshimer and a granddaughter, all of Tennessee; a sister, Monica (Chris) Sprong of Lebanon, Indiana; a nephew, Zachariah Sprong; a niece, Zoe Sprong; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Hobson, his paternal grandparents, Arnold Sr. and Ida Imagene Hobson; his maternal grandparents, Herschel and Faye Conner.

He was a graduate of North Montgomery High School. Phil was a true embodiment of a jack of all trades. He began his career at Raybestos before taking a leap to Tennessee, where he thrived as a C&C operator in several factories and even ventured into tree trimming. Phil had a remarkable ability to tackle any challenge with a smile and a positive attitude.

Phil's zest for life was infectious. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace in nature and thrill in the great outdoors-whether it was hunting, fishing, or riding his beloved motorcycles and go-carts. Just recently, he poured his heart into fixing up his Harley, a symbol of his free spirit and need for speed. His adventurous spirit was rivaled only by his deep love for his children, who were his greatest joy and pride.

Phil is remembered not just for his skills and passions, but for his generous heart and the laughter he brought to those around him. He had a unique ability to connect with people, leaving unforgettable memories in his wake.

The family will hold a visitation and celebration of Phil's life, filled with stories and laughter, at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville, Indiana on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a graveside service following at Oak Hill North Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his father. We invite all who knew and loved Phil to share in this joyful gathering, as we honor the remarkable man he was.

Phil Hobson may have left this world, but his spirit, enthusiasm, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Ride free, Phil, until we meet agai
