John J. Rasmussen, 90, of Two Harbors passed away Oct. 25, 2024 peacefully at home.
John was born May 10, 1934 to Carl and Margit (Johnsen) Rasmussen in Duluth and grew up on the family farm on the State Road, and spent time at a small cabin on Crane Lake.
He enjoyed time with family, traveling, flying his plane, winters in Texas, and fishing on Lake Superior and the rivers in Texas.
John founded Rasmussen Well Drilling in 1955, and operated the business until selling it to his sons in 1999.
He enjoyed working with people and lending a hand when needed. He was a member of Fortitude Lodge of the Masons, Emera Chapter of the OES, and the American Legion.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy in November 2020; and sisters, Johanna Lutman and Carol Pearson.
He is survived by his children, Larry (Linda) Rasmussen, Deborah (Richard) Young, and Robert (April) Rasmussen; grandchildren, Amber, Justin, Michell, Nicholas, and Bettina; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Winston Rasmussen, Charlene Ojard and Marjorie Lucas.
John’s family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus-Lakeview Hospital and St. Luke’s Home Hospice for the care they provided in John’s last months.
