John Reese Obituary

The family will receive friends for a visitation in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, from 04:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m.
Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens on at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers, Matt Reese and wife, Tracy, Roman Reese and wife, Jessica; sister, Rachel Reese Smith and husband, Michael; nephews, Austin Brothers, Oskar Reese, and Matthew Reese, Jr.; nieces, Story Smith and Romy Smith; grandmother, Ardath Reese.
He was preceded in death by longtime partner, Jodie Simpson; grandfather, Paul Reese; and grandparents, Jim and Jean Adams.
John graduated in 1995 from Mt. Juliet High School and went on to attend East Tennessee State University. He was the proudest of Eagle Scout.
He began working at Boxwell Boy Scout Camp at age 14 and continued for five years. John spent seven years in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as a whitewater raft guide on the Snake River. In winter, he was a guide for snow mobile trips and sold outdoor equipment.
He was an avid outdoorsman and tinkered with anything with a motor. John is best known for his love of water and anything he could do on it.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Boy Scout Troop #2015 at Liberty Church (7104 Lebanon Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122).
