John C. Ruhf, III, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 3, 1948, in Fountain Hill, he was a man of integrity and warmth, deeply dedicated to his loved ones and community.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Ruhf, Sr. and Jane (Ayre) Ruhf, and his sister, Cimmie Jane DePriest. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carey (Kelly) Ruhf, with whom he shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud father to John C. Ruhf, IV, and his wife Carolyn and cherished his role as grandfather to Lyvianna. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews.
A 1966 graduate of Liberty High School, John continued his education at Buffalo State College before serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist 5. His military service shaped his values of duty and perseverance. He later dedicated 30 years to the City of Bethlehem as a Housing Inspector before retiring.
John will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support for those around him. His presence was a source of comfort, and his legacy of love and service will live on through his family and friends.
Services: Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. John's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
Contributions: The zoo was a place of comfort and joy for John, where he shared many special moments with Carey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, P.O. Box 519, Schnecksville, PA 18078.

Carey, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. John was truly one of a kind and I will never forget his kindness and storytelling. He will be missed. Dean, the boys and I send our love. A Vietnam Veteran soldier has passed away today. John, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow war veteran.
