Funeral services for John R. Shaw, age 68, of Willsboro, NY, will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 12:00PM at Frary Funeral Home, Malone with Rev. Scott Seymour officiating. Visitation will be held prior to funeral services beginning at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Mr. Shaw passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home in Willsboro surrounded by his loving family.
John is survived by his wife, Hilda Shaw of Willsboro, NY; his children, Michael Smith, John R. Shaw III, and Kaitlin Shaw; his siblings, Thomas Shaw, Charles Shaw, Martin Shaw, and Tracey Shaw (Williams); his father, John R. Shaw Sr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss him.
John R. Shaw was born on August 6, 1955, in Malone, NY, to parents John R. and Mary Racicot Shaw. He graduated from St. Joseph's in Malone. John began his career at Tru-Stitch in Malone, eventually becoming the plant manager at the Constable Street Factory. It was during his tenure there that he met Hilda Barney, whom he married on April 10, 1997. Following Tru-Stitch's closure, John transitioned to working at the Press Republican until his retirement.
John found immense joy in fishing and watching New York Giants games with his beloved son and best friend, John III. He had a deep passion for music, mastering the drums as a teenager and later learning to play the acoustic and bass guitar. Above all, John cherished his role as a devoted father to his three children. He fondly recalled his music-filled, rock 'n' roll days with friends from Malone, NY, where they played in various bands such as Wind Castle, Crossfire, and the Bare Hill Band.
Donations may be made in John's memory to High Peaks Hospice or American Red Cross.
