John George Tessar Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Walling, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family on September 11, 2025. He was 81 years old. Known for his great intelligence, kindness, witty "Dad-joke" humor, and fierce loyalty to his family, John lived a life full of love, laughter, and deep respect for everyone he met.

Born on November 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to John George Tessar and Catherine Reader, John grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Surveyor Specialist at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, earning the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal for his honorable service. On October 25, 1969, John married the love of his life, Joanne Tessar, and together they built a beautiful life over 45 years until her passing in 2014.

John's professional life was marked by skill and dedication as an iron worker and draftsman, where his precision and craftsmanship excelled. In his free time, he found joy in building intricate model airplanes, boats, and trains, a hobby that showcased his patience and creativity. He cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, often sharing stories, laughs, and meals at his favorite spot, Cracker Barrel. His life philosophy, "If it's so important, we can get around to it later. We're having too much fun relaxing," captured his ability to find joy in the present and prioritize family above all else.

John is survived by his devoted son, John George Tessar III (and his wife, Shelby); his son Jeffrey William Tessar; his cherished grandchildren, Haily (and her husband, Justine), Jake (John George Tessar IV), Brad, Sidney, and Hayden; his great-grandchild, Justin; his brother, William Tessar (and wife Debbie), and Sister-in-law Judy Pelio with nieces Joanna and Jeanna. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Tessar; his parents, John George Tessar and Catherine Reader; and his brothers, James Tessar and Arthur Tessar.

John's legacy shines through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, kindness, and humor. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish his wisdom and caring.

John George Tessar Jr.'s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and living in the moment. May he rest in peace, forever surrounded by the joy he brought to so many.
