John S. Tiedemann of Denver, Colorado passed away on September 17, 2024. John was the devoted son of Robert E. Tiedemann Jr. and Linda A. Tiedemann, and the brother of Robert E. Tiedemann III. John was born on May 24, 1965 at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY, and grew up in Franklin Square, NY. After attending Hofstra University and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, John became a Teaching Associate Professor at the University of Denver (DU) for the University Writing Program since its inception. John co-founded the DU Community Writing Center, which has partnered with the Saint Francis Homeless Center and The Gathering Place since 2008. From 2011 to 2019, John also served as faculty director of the Social Justice Living & Learning Community at DU. In addition, John was an accomplished amateur photographer and held an Artist-In-Residency at the Redline Contemporary Art Center in Denver. Known for his intelligence, creativity, sense of humor and compassion, John was deeply loved and esteemed by his family members, friends, colleagues and students in New York, Madison and Denver, and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home on Friday from 4-6:30PM.
