John West Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

John T. West, Jr., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 15, 2025, in Mishawaka, Indiana, after a life filled with humor, resilience, and memorable moments. Born December 9, 1966, in South Bend, Indiana, John carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life.

John had an unmatched passion for the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. His game-day enthusiasm was well known, and his spirited commentary was a staple during every season. Off the field, John was a talented cook whose spaghetti, chicken gravy and rice, and grilling skills became the centerpiece of many gatherings.

John was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, LaQuita (Robert) West-Hogan, LaToya West, and Sierra Seibert, and his grandchildren, Zymari, Zakai, Zyiah, Zayah, and Nova Marie. Though his path through parenthood was not always conventional, his presence remained a part of the family story.

John joins in eternal rest his parents, John Sr. and Lula Bell West, and his siblings Mark West, Jason West, Dianna Hubbard-Fultz and Robert Williams. As well as his aunts and uncles Billie Wesley, Laura Grey, Sarah Long, Jake Long, Inobia "Sweet" Baker, Laura McDonald, Rev. Booker T. West, Arthur West, James West, Evelyn Coppage and George Long. He is remembered by his sisters Deborah West, Charlotte Ottbridge, Shannon (Marcus) Jackson, Nicole Ford, and his brother Craig (Kathy) West, a special sister Yvette West and special nephew Sedelle Blue. His extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends will continue to share his stories and remember his spirit.

John found peace in the quiet of nature, particularly while fishing - a hobby that offered him both solitude and joy. He valued the simple pleasures in life and had a strong sense of independence that defined his journey.

Condolences, photos, and memories may be shared with the family at www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com. A celebration of life will take place on August 23, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home at 12 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.

As we remember John T. West, Jr., we reflect on a life lived on his own terms - one marked by unique passions, enduring traditions, and moments that shaped those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of authenticity and strength, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
