John M. "Jack" "Jack" Zook

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John M. "Jack" Zook, age 78, of Mantua, New Jersey, on August 5, 2025.

Born on December 5, 1946, Jack was the only son of the late Helen (nee Thompson) and Horace Zook. He was a proud graduate of Pitman High School and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. Jack carried the strength, discipline, and quiet courage of his service with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan (nee Kling) Zook, who stood by his side through every chapter. He was a proud father to their son, Kevin, devoted grandfather to Cameryn Templeton (Brian), Natalie, Zachary, and Brady, and a loving great-grandfather to Carson and Lorenzo.

Jack also leaves behind a large and wonderful extended family including many cousins, nieces, and nephew, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Jack worked for Texaco after coming home from the war and in his spare time he had a lifelong passion for playing pool and was an active member of many local pool leagues over the years. He proudly cheered on Philadelphia sports teams with his favorite furry companions by his side. The family dogs brought him comfort, joy, and unconditional love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Helen Zook (nee Thompson), and leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength.

Relatives and friends may visit from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Monday, August 11th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will be private at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Monroe Twp., NJ. To honor his devotion to Philadelphia sports, please wear your Eagles or Phillies attire as we celebrate his life.
