It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johnnie B. Bailey Sr., a beloved figure who left this world peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on June 16, 1943, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Johnnie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering strength.

Johnnie's professional journey spanned over thirty years at General Electric Company, where he worked diligently and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was not only a committed employee but also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor and pride.

A proud graduate of Eastern High School, Johnnie continued his education at the University of Louisville, where he nurtured his passion for learning and community engagement. His love for Louisville sports kept him connected to his roots, and he remained a dedicated fan throughout his life.

Johnnie was a loving father to his daughter, Kathy (Arthur) Lemons, and son, Johnny B. Bailey, Jr. He cherished every moment spent with his grandsons, Arthur Lemons, III, Mason G. (Alaina) Lemons, and Daniel Lemons, who brought immense joy into his life. As a grandfather, he found boundless happiness in watching his family grow and flourish, truly considering this his proudest accomplishment. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Jaide M. Lemons, Arthur Lemons, IV, and Malia G. Lemons, who were a shining light in his later years.

Johnnie's personality resonated with warmth; he was a devoted grandfather, loyal friend, and a joyful spirit. He found solace in dancing and live music, often sharing those joyful moments with family and friends. His cherished hobby of working on cars reflected his passion for craftsmanship and his creative side.

He is preceded in death by his father, John W. Bailey, and mother, Roberta Bailey, as well as his sister, Maxine Parrish; brother, Charles Scott; and his sister, Gloria Dianne Bailey. Their memories remain an integral part of how he lived his life—full of love, laughter, and connection.

Friends and family are invited to honor Johnnie’s life on April 4, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville. The visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by Military Honors, to honor his military service, which will begin at 10:30 AM and continue until 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow the visitation.

Johnnie B. Bailey Sr. will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever dance in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be a part of his extraordinary life.
