Johnny Wayne Norton, Anniston AL, went to be with his Lord Sept 22, 2024.
John was born Oct 8,1945 in Selma AL, the son of Buck E and Jonnie B Norton.
John graduated from Albert G Parrish High School, Samford University in 1967 and in 1969 he earned his Juris Doctorate at Cumberland School of Law.
During John's 50+ year career as an attorney, he served his community in many ways, including District Judge and City Council. John was a member of his beloved church, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where he humbly served as a member of The Vestry for several terms.
John was a fabulous storyteller with a quick wit and a heart to help all. He would gladly give the shirt off his back to help a stranger. He loved being with people and would make a friend everywhere he went. Every woman he ever met either had the first name Sugar or Darlin'! His memory will be cherished deeply.
Remaining to cherish John's memory are his longtime companion, Millie Haynes, her daughter and granddaughter Misty and Swayzie of Anniston AL; Siblings John C "Dick" (Patricia) Norton of Marion Junction AL, Barbara Grange of Hutchinson Island FL, Dorothy "Ann" Edwards (MA Buddy Hardin) of Panama City Beach FL, Thomas (Ellen) Norton of High Point NC. Nieces and Nephews include Sue Porter Everidge, Cecilia Ford, David Norton, Terry Lynn Grange, special niece Laurie Kelly, Leslie Blair, Blake Edwards, Barbara Ann Chapman, Doug Norton, Brian Norton, Kenneth Hamrick, Kevin Hamrick, Donald Norton, William "Christopher" Norton and their families.
Preceding John in death are his parents, his wife Jo Anne Goodson Norton; siblings William "Bill" Norton, Alice "Boo" Norton Porter, Mary Francis Norton and Buck E "Sonny" Norton Jr, in laws John "Terry" Grange, Louise Norton, John Ray Edwards, nephews Michael and William "Scott" Edwards.
Friends and family are invited to Graveside services on November 20, 2024 at 2:00pm at Highland Cemetery with Rev. David Hodnett of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church officiating. Services in care of Cremation Services of East Alabama.
