Jonathan Christopher Bartholomew, born on January 18, 1983, to the late Theophone Bartholomew and Germaine Sylve, transitioned from labor to glory on April 7, 2025.
Jonathan was many things to many people. He was a loving husband to Cheryl Fairley Bartholomew and a devoted father to their three children. He was also a cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Jonathan, who had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, worshipped at The House Church in Slidell, Louisiana.
Jonathan attended St. Jude, Port Sulphur High and graduated from Southern University in New Orleans where he was a member of Phi Beta Sigma. He was also a member of the Indian Tribe Creole Osceola. He served as a peer mentor and served as the Vice President for the SGA and a member of the Cowboy Nation (Dallas Cowboy Fan).
Throughout his life, Jonathan touched the hearts of those around him with his kindness and dedication. His family will remember him for his unwavering love and support Jonathan's presence enriched the lives of everyone who knew him; his legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
Jonathan leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy, his wife–Cheryl Fairley Bartholomew; children–Jaylah, Jaydon, and Janai; his mother and stepfather–Germaine and Larry Sylve; mother-in-love–Sharon Evans Pope; brothers–Theophone (Crystal) Bartholomew, Jared (Tiffany) Bartholomew, Damond Landry, Lyle (Nikki) Fitte, Channing Fisk, Rashaed Fairley, Jemon West, and Cary (Christina) Evans; sisters–Dionne Landry and Kapresha Fairley; sister-in-law–Johnetta Evans; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his father–Theophone Bartholomew; father-in-love–Willie Pope; mother-in-love–Juanita Walkman; sister–Shelly Bartholomew; brother-in-law–Cory Evans, Florence Fitte; grandmothers–Mable Pope and Sarah Evans; grandfathers–Christopher Fitte, Felton Fairley, George Pope, and Solomon Evans; godfather–John Sylve; and mentor–Chester Pichon.
Family and friends are invited to the Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Boynton United Methodist Church, 515 5th Street, Gretna, LA 70053.
Reverend Aaron M. DeGruy Sr., (Pastor A) will officiate.
The Visitation will commence at 10:00 AM; the service will follow, at 11:00 AM.
Professional Arrangements are entrusted to Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114.

Fly away Johnathan into the hands of our LORD GOD AND SON JESUS CHRIST. I pray for STRENGTH FOR YOUR FAMILY. I PRAY FOR YOUR (3) BABIES THAT THEY GROW UP AND REMEMBER HOW MUCH YOU LOVED THEM. Never will forget you Johnathan and the love and respect you gave me.
