Jordan “JJ” Maye, age 17, tragically passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at her home in Ocean Springs.
J was born in New York and eventually moved to Georgia where she spent the first seven years of her life as an only child. She then gave up that title when her baby brother Jaxon was born. She quickly fell in love and became his very best friend, being able to make him laugh like no other. We moved to Ocean Springs where we later welcomed her baby sister Charlie. She spent hours upon hours dressing her up like her own personal baby doll. She spent the remainder of her life in Ocean Springs, meeting many great friends turned family along the way.
A city girl at heart, she had big dreams of moving back to New York to become a stylist after attending Arrojo Academy in Soho, which we all knew she would flourish in. She could “slay a look” like nobody’s business.
J was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a bright light whose smile lit up any room she walked into. She had a knack for lifting people up and always rooted for the underdog. J was funny without trying and could make you laugh when you needed it most. Above all else, she was fiercely brave. The courage that she showed just to be herself in a world that frowns upon differences was admirable.
She was preceded in death by her favorite person on this planet, her Noni. We are confident that she is currently cradling her in her arms.
She left behind her Mom and Dad, Kera and Jordan Maye; her baby brother and sister, Jaxon and Charlie; her aunts, Emmy and Nichelle; her maternal grandparents, Timothy and Tricia Fortney; and her paternal grandparents, Michael and Tangula Grove, and Douglas Maye. She also has countless cousins and extended family that love her dearly.
Her absence leaves a gaping hole in our hearts. The world is a much darker place without her presence, and we will keep her memory alive for as long as we live.
We love you forever, our precious baby.
