José Gustavo Caicedo Hurtado, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday,
July 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his daughter's home in
Whitehall, Pennsylvania.
José was born in Ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia, on February 1, 1950. He was
co-owner of a bakery in Colombia for 25 years with his ex-wife, Teresita Villota.
He later immigrated to the United States to pursue a better life. José lived in New
York, Pennsylvania, and ultimately Tampa, Florida, where he acquired more than
50 years of baking experience.
José worked for some time at La Hacienda Restaurant, in Tampa, Florida, where he
was loved, admired, and respected by his coworkers and community. José was
dedicated to the art of baking and had a passion for creating various Colombian
breads, cakes, and delicacies.
José lived a full life, enjoyed the Florida weather, and made lifelong friends over
the years that he considered family. José is survived by his fifty-two-year-old son,
Alexander Caicedo; his forty-five-year-old daughter, Zamira Caicedo; and two
sons residing in Florida, Jeffery Caicedo and Matthew Caicedo.
