There will be a visitation on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary to start at 6:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. John's Catholic Church, with an interment to follow the mass at South Park Cemetery.

Jose grew up in Dexter, New Mexico, where he began school. In 1999, he relocated to Roswell, where he became a student with the Roswell Independent School District. He had a passion for baseball and enjoyed hanging out with friends, cruising, swimming, fishing, and making memories with his family. Jose will be profoundly missed; may he rest in eternal peace.
Jose has gifted us with cherished memories that will forever occupy a special place in the hearts of his surviving family. Those survivors are his mother, Enedina (Nancy) and her husband Andres Cano; his sisters, Hermelinda Ortega, and her husband Cruz Ortega, and Rebecca Chavez; brother, Jesus Chavez Jr, and his wife Heidi Chavez; stepsiblings, Isabel Sauceda and Andres Cano Jr.; nephews, Richard Bejarano, Jesus Chavez Jr., Joel Contreras, Josue Ortega, and Josiah Chavez; nieces, Krystal Bejarano, Esperanza Duke, Mayela Chavez, and Allisandra Chavez; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jose Angel Chavez is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Chavez; grandparents, Julian and Herminia Oropesa, and Refugio and Manuela Chavez; uncles, Cruz Oropesa and Toribio Oropesa; aunts, Mary Villa and Corrine Oropesa; and cousin, Christina Chavez.
Honored to serve as pallbearers for Jose are Refugio (Corky) Chavez Jr., Cruz Ortega, Julian Oropesa, Juan Fuentes Jr., Noel Carlos Jr., and Josiah Chavez.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone for standing by Jose's family during this difficult time.
