Joseph S. Goclano

Joseph S. Goclano, 103, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of June 25, 2025 at Clen Moore Place.
On January 27, 1922 Joseph was born in New Castle to the late Anthony and Mary (DiPalmo) Goclano.
Joe married his beloved wife, the former Viola Gesue, on May 8, 1948, and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary prior to her passing on June 8, 2023.
He graduated from New Castle High School, playing end for legendary coach Philip Bridenbaugh in 1939 and 1940.
Joe proudly served as an aerial gunnery instructor in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
After the war, he worked as a tool and die maker and machinist at The Johnson Bronze Company, where he served as the local union president. He was subsequently employed as an International Union Representative for the United Auto Workers until his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish – St. Vitus Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. For many years Joseph served on the Board of Directors of GNC Federal Credit Union and Avalon Nursing Home.
Joe enjoyed fishing and bowling, but was best known as an avid golfer who had nine Hole-In-Ones in over seventy-five years of playing. His close relationships with family and friends were the hallmark of a life well-lived.
Joseph leaves behind his son, Richard Goclano (Catherine); granddaughter, Erin Carlin Jackson (Jim) and great-grandchildren Piper and Thomas James Jackson; granddaughter Brooke Carlin Napolitano (Neil) and great-grandchildren Lucas and Spencer Napolitano; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Goclano Grotefend; three brothers, Benjamin Goclano, Walter Goclano and Anthony Goclano, Jr., and three sisters, Katherine West, Anna Paiano, and Lucille Budzowski.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 2 at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Rd. The New Castle Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Blessing Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home officiated by Father Ben Barr, Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish. Entombment will be at Parkside Mausoleum.
