Joseph M. Gondola

The Honorable Joseph Gondola, son of John and Teresa, was born in Paterson, N.J. on January 12, 1933. He peacefully passed away at his home, on August 17, 2023, surrounded by his truly loving family.
Joe graduated with a B.S. and an M.A. from Montclair State College, with post-graduate studies at Seton Hall University. He taught Social Studies at Central High School prior to being appointed Postmaster of Clifton, NJ, where he served for forty three years. He was an active member of St. Andrew RC Church.
Joe was active in the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS), at both the state and national levels. In his career, he held many titles, including being elected as National President from 1982-83. Joe was President of the Board of Directors of NAPUS/Signature Credit Union for four decades, and was named President Emeritus in 2021.
Joe is predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth Tichy (John), Bessie Trucinski (Tony), Annie Paylo (John), Mary Gondola, Helen Harris (Warren) and John Gondola (Bertha). He is survived by his adoring wife, Dorothy (nee Hoffman), of sixty four years; his beloved children, Mark (Justine), Kristen Kandel (Doug) and Jenifer Andiorio (Jeff); his treasured grandchildren, Stephanie Berenguer (Andrew), Christine Sinisi, Troy Gondola (Brian), Erik Gondola (Rebeca), Cole, Logan and Riley Kandel and Gavin and Schuyler Andiorio; and his cherished great grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie Gondola, Mary Berenguer and Luka Gondola; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin Monday 9:15AM at the Allwood Funeral Home 660 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ 07012 viewing will be held Sunday 2-6PM.
