Joe, age 71, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was a native of Tacoma, Washington and a current resident of Brookhaven, Mississippi. He received his Masters Degree after attending Witchita State University and University of Fort Lauderdale on a tennis scholarship. He retired from E. Jacob Construction in Baton Rouge and in March, began a new journey working as a Tax Collector at Mansfield Oil Company. He was a Deacon at Blood River Baptist Church, but is a current member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Boguechitto, Mississippi. Joe had a passion for music and loved writing music, playing guitar, and producing music. He won the Nashville Song Writing Contest for his work. Joe loved watching the OU Sooners play football and camping with his wife all over Louisiana and Mississippi. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather who will be forever loved and missed.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 13 wonderful years, Sharon Goodson; parents, Billy and Wanda Goodson; daughter, Lyndsi Collins (David); son, Chris Goodson (Nicole); grandchildren, Elijah Collins, Isaiah Collins, Dylan Collins, Cody Collins, Ellie Collins, and Connor Collins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his daughter, Carly Goodson; brother, Mark Goodson; and grandparents, Ethel Henning, Sylvester Henning, Ruby Goodson, and William Goodson.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Bloodriver Baptist Church Cemetery.
