Monson – Joseph (Joe) F. Handzel, born on March 8, 1936, in Palmer, Massachusetts, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Wilbraham. A retired inspector at Zero Manufacturing, Joseph dedicated years to his career after graduating from Palmer High School. He served Honorably, as a Corporal, in the Marines, a testament to his commitment and service. He wore his Marine’s hat, with pride, right to the end.
Joseph's greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play sports, alongside his hobbies of hunting, fishing, gardening, visiting Cape Cod, and spending time with his beloved dog, Shadow.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Handzel of Pleasant Valley CT and David Handzel and his wife Kim of Palmer MA, daughters, Debbie Bigelow and her husband Russell of Palmer MA, Joann Casey of Stafford CT, and Laura Davis of Palmer MA. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Christopher and wife Alexis, Shaun, and wife Cassara, Jeremy, Ryan and wife Ali, Tyler and FIANCE Kaitlyn, Amber, Kyle, Nicole and her husband Corey, and Zachary and his wife Jayda, along with great-grandchildren Logan, James, Sophia, and Axton. He also leaves behind extended family members.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Condon) Handzel, they spent many cherished years together, his brother Rudy Handzel and sister Stephanie Handzel. He was also predeceased by his son in law, Mark Davis, who he loved to “pop in” and visit. They were truly friends. Joseph will be remembered, fondly, by all who knew him.
