Mr. Joseph "Joe" Miciotto, 72, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 12:42 p.m. after a courageous battle of esophageal cancer. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Osborn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at St Elizabeth Ann Seton. Officiating will be Rev. Monsignor Rothell Price. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.
Joe was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 16, 1950, to Anthony John Miciotto and Marie Greco Miciotto. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1968 and then, obtained a degree in Business Administration from Northeast University. He continued his education at Trinity University where he earned his Master's Degree in Hospital Administration. Joe spent the next two years at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe before returning to Shreveport. He worked at Confederate Memorial, which was later renamed to LSUMC, for the next 43 years. The last 20 years of his career he was CEO of the hospital before retiring in 2020. Joseph loved his work and never considered it work. He loved to take care of people and help in any way he could. Joseph served on many boards, including Campus Federal Credit Union, The Chamber of Commerce, and Louisiana Northwest Hospital.
Joe was faithful to his church serving on numerous committees including Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight for 2 years. He also served on the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Finance Committee, was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, as well as a Eucharist Minister for many years. He was awarded with the Bishop's Medal of Honor for his service to the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Marie Miciotto, his sister, Bridget Miciotto Tonore, and his grandson, Mason Anthony Stehr. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Deborah Campisi Miciotto, his two children, Leah Miciotto Renfro and her husband Mark and his son Mark Joseph Miciotto and his wife Natalie. Grandchildren, Gracen Stehr, Caroline, Claire and Micheal Miciotto, Andrew Renfro, Chelsea Renfro Spinks and her husband Thomas; great grandchild, Gia Spinks.
He is survived by his sister, Connie Miciotto Nalewaik and her husband Bill, and his brother Sammy Miciotto and his wife Deanna. Joe is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be James Barnard, John Pou, David Campisi, John Milazzo, Greg Miciotto, Dr Bob Nickelson, Sammy Mondello and Gary Mabry. Honorary pallbearers will be John Giglio, Stuart and Bill Nalewaik, Kim Green, Tony Ropollo, Ron Miciotto and Jon Campisi.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Bob Nickelson and Dr Anil Veluvolu for their compassionate and dedicated care throughout the years. Also, special thanks to St Joseph's Hospice Care, especially Sarah Susilovich.
