Joseph Andrew Oravec Jr., affectionately known as Joe or Joey to his family and friends passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024 surrounded by his family, in his hometown of
Bethlehem, PA. Born on August 11, 1965, to Joseph Andrew Oravec Sr. and Patricia Ann (McNamara) Oravec of Allentown, Joe's life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and dedication to those he loved.
Joe's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Bethlehem, where he attended Bethlehem Catholic High School. His formative years were marked by his developing love for sports and music, passions that would stay with him throughout his life. After graduation, Joe embarked on a successful career as a Financial Advisor, where his sharp mind and warm personality made him a favorite among colleagues and clients alike.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by Sherry Hiltz Dawejko of Allentown who he was in a loving relationship for the past 23 years. Together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and mutual support. Joe was a dedicated father to his children, Daniel Joseph Oravec and his wife Kayla of Bethlehem, and Allison Lynn Carlson and her husband Philip of Northampton. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, guiding his children with love and wisdom. Joe's life was further enriched by the arrival of his grandchildren, Aiden and Noah, who brought him immense joy and pride. He embraced his role as a grandfather with the same enthusiasm and love that he had shown as a father, creating countless cherished memories. He also shared a close bond with his brother, Thomas Oravec and his significant other Hana Mehmeti, of Allentown. Their connection was rooted in shared experiences and a deep understanding that only siblings can have. Joe is also survived by his nephews and niece: Troy, Tylor, Tommy and Kylee. He will be greatly missed by his furry companion, Ruby who never left his side.
Joe was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. His faith was a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and comfort during life's challenges.
Joe's interests and hobbies were a reflection of his vibrant spirit. He had an enduring love for football and baseball, often found cheering on his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Vikings. Music, especially playing the drums, was another of Joe's passions, and he could often be found tapping out rhythms and beats that echoed his zest for life. Joe was also a regular at Musikfest on a yearly basis.
Cooking was another joy for Joe, and he was known for his culinary skills, often gathering family and friends around the table for a feast prepared with love. Joe would always offer to take over on the grill no matter where the occasion was taking place.
In every aspect of his life, Joe was known for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone around him feel special. He was a pillar of his community, a devoted family man, and a friend to all who knew him.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held at 6 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street
Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 4 P.M. until time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
